Just got a new Arlo camera? Whether it’s your first smart camera or you’re adding to an existing setup, this guide will walk you through the entire setup process — step by step.

Arlo cameras are designed for quick, DIY installation. No tools, no hassle — just follow the steps below and you’ll be up and running in minutes.

🎯 What You’ll Need Before You Start

• Your Arlo camera (charged or plugged in)
• A smartphone or tablet with the Arlo app installed
• A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (most Arlo models require this)
• Arlo SmartHub or Base Station (only for specific models)

📲 Step 1: Download and Open the Arlo App

First, download the official Arlo app from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and either log in or create a new Arlo account.

➕ Step 2: Add a New Device

• Tap the “+” icon in the app
• Select “Cameras”
• Choose your specific Arlo model (e.g. Arlo Pro 4, Essential, Ultra, etc.)

📡 Step 3: Choose a Setup Method

You’ll be asked whether you’re connecting the camera directly to Wi-Fi or to a SmartHub/Base Station. Most wire-free models connect via Wi-Fi.

• If using Wi-Fi: Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz network
• If using a SmartHub: Ensure it’s powered on and connected to your router

🔄 Step 4: Sync the Camera

Once prompted, scan the QR code shown on your phone using the Arlo camera. The camera will chime once it recognizes the code.

• If needed, press the sync button on the camera for 2–3 seconds
• Wait for the LED to blink blue — this means it’s pairing

🏷️ Step 5: Name Your Camera and Assign a Location

Once paired, you can give your camera a name (like “Front Door” or “Backyard”) and choose a room or area where it’s installed.

• Mount it 6–7 feet high for the best view
• Aim the camera slightly downward
• Make sure it’s within Wi-Fi range or close to the SmartHub
