Jackson Safety BH3 Auto Darkening Welding Helmet Review

Working in a metal shop, safety is always a priority. No matter what size job I’m doing, or what kind of welding I’m doing, I need the best equipment to get the job done right.

To that end, I have always liked Jackson Safety products, and I’ve used them throughout my whole career. Recently, I needed to upgrade my old helmet to meet new job safety requirements, which is when I found the Jackson Safety BH3 Auto Darkening Helmet.

Even though I already knew that a Jackson Safety product would be more than sufficient for my job site, I have to say that I was still impressed by the level of quality of the BH3. If you’re looking for something reliable and with unmatched performance, then this is the helmet for you.

Auto Darkening

At my old job, some welders would use fixed shade helmets, and others would use automatic. For this job, everyone needs to have an automatic helmet so that we can operate more efficiently.

One of the biggest issues, however, with an auto-dimming model is that they have a higher risk of flashing. A fixed shade will never flash you since it doesn’t transition from light to dark, but an automatic helmet can run that risk.

Part of the reason I chose the BH3 was that it had impressive results, going from light to dark in a fraction of a second without any issues. Overall, I have to say that I’m impressed with the performance of this model.

Advanced Optical Clarity

Another major reason I chose the BH3 was that it came with improved optics. Most helmets have a greenish hue to them while you’re working, which can get distracting. This model, however, stays clear and has the best optical rating possible.

Seeing is a huge part of the job, and the optimized clarity coupled with the massive (comparatively speaking) viewing screen means that I can see everything I need to while on the job.
